Problems with PV

Solar modules are sunlight, UV radiation, weathering and thus exposed to particularly tough conditions. Defects of the system will become apparent in the course of time. In most cases the problem is the declining yield of the installation.

Talk to us at:
- Problems with your solar power system
- Declining revenue
- Optical abnormalities
- Poor quality of solar modules
- Problems caused by sub-assembly
- Scratches after Generator Cleaning
- Recourse to court proceedings

Beyond those issues, we a competent laboratory for questions about life, durability, material compatibility, function and future semiconductor module performance.

The guarantees are a constant theme in photovoltaic systems.

Warranties
With the legal warranty, the plant operator has a claim against the seller or manufacturer. The claim relates to a defect-free goods, here solar modules.
The statutory warranty period is 2 years, in many European countries. Normally all production-related defects are covered, including the promised power of the module.

Guarantee
From the statutory warranty, the warranty is to be distinguished. The guarantee is voluntary, there is no legal obligation to make a guarantee promise. The content of the guarantee, the Guarantor may decide freely. Warranty claims exist in addition to the statutory warranty claims. By guaranteeing legal warranty claims can not be changed.
Regarding solar modules especially the performance guarantee is important. It all depends on which performance is promised. The procedure, as the guarantee claims are made is also described in the guarantee declaration. In solar modules, it's all about the performance guarantee. It all depends on which performance is promised. The procedure, as the warranty claims are made is also described in the warranty

The guarantee grants the claims against the module manufacturer. Usually, the following guarantees are granted by the manufacturers:

Performance guarantee for 90% of rated power: run time usually 10-12 years
Explanation: This warranty indicates that the module within the guaranty period min. 90% of the original performance specification under STC (Standard Test Conditions) based on the original flash protocol
Performance guarantee 80% of rated power: run time usually 20-25 years
Explanation: This warranty indicates that the module within the Guaranty period min. 80% of the original power rating at STC on based on the original flash protocol.

It must be determined, the module performance in order to make a warranty claim.

Problems in practice
The processes described here allow tolerances, that is clear. The module buyers must believe the manufacturer's data, including the power rating.

Normally the buyer has no way to verify the performance of the module.
Even collected random samples represent a major problem, since testing institutes have with appropriate testing wait times of partly 3-4 months.
